Curse of the Pharaohs is near perfect in game play. Rating: 5/5
Every once in awhile a great game comes along. I remember Impossible Mission for the C64 and Doom for the PC. There have been a few for the PPC platform. Curse of the Pharaohs (COTP) is a great game... Curse of the Pharaohs is near perfect in game play with great sounds, music and graphics... If you want a fun game that will last you for hours, this is the game for you!
Games-art.com:
Total rating: 90% - superb!
In 1989, Prince of Persia was a stamp in computer gaming history. Now, JustMobileGames released their debut game that goes beyond the standards of this instant classic... Curse of the Pharaohs offers amazingly puzzling gameplay with arcade elements, effective audio and great graphics... In some situations, you feel a surge of adrenaline with the amount of mummies, death knights and other enemies that are making their way towards you... Although it does sound horrible, beautiful gory player and enemy animations riddle the screen...
PDAground.com:
Sometimes writing reviews can be very pleasant. TOTAL RATING: 5/5
I can say that I really like this game - it is very interesting to play. It is like you are in another world, it can be a little bit scary, but it is very interesting to find out what will be on next level. The combination of perfect, real sounds, arcade and logical genres and cool graphics makes Curse of the Pharaohs a game for all ages, for all players, for now and for the future...
Pocketgamer.org:
Challenging gameplay. TOTAL RATING: 7/10
The sound effects were very good. Everything from the machete slashing to bullets firing, from splashing in the water to the chime of success when picking up a useful item, every sound effect seemed well in place... The graphics in COTP are extremely well done. There is a lot to look at in the background, from holes in the floor to sarcophagi in the walls...The interface was also top notch. Everything was easy to access, the display at the bottom of the screen was concise and useful, and the buttons were easy to read and well designed...

Egyptologist Extravaganza. TOTAL RATING: 3.5/4
Although the game does have its share of shooting enemies and treasures to grab, it's much more involved than just that. COTP also has you doing such things as excavating old mummies, using dynamite, flipping switches, and manipulating your environment in various ways in order to get the job done... There's even a hint of RPG-like character development, as increasing your knowledge allows you to access additional levels... A lot of effort went into the design and game play of this title, and it shows...
Description
Curse of the Pharaohs is the debut release from Just Mobile Games and stars Harold Huxley, an intrepid English archaeologist, who is pitted against the mysterious Cult of Anubis. Harold puts his faith in his revolver, machete, dynamite and hammer as he runs, jumps, crawls and grabs his way through each level.
The game captures the gore made popular in the 90s 3D games and reproduces it in a retro style. Flying body parts, death screams, splats and blood are included, but so is a liberal dose of dark humour.
Curse of the Pharaohs borrows ideas from RPG games including an easy to manage inventory and pre-expedition visits to a bazaar to stock up on supplies. Exploration is another important aspect of the game. Each of the 30 levels in the game are large, far bigger than the actual screen of the Pocket PC.
Features:
- Pocket PC 2000
- Pocket PC 2002/2003
- Windows Mobile 2003
- Windows Mobile 2005
